1. Purpose of Report
The purpose of this Incident Report is to document a series of observations concerning the configuration and operation of my residential wireless network, together with several connected electronic devices, including my Netgear RS100 Nighthawk Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router, multiple Ring security devices, my Apple iPhone 17, my Apple Mac mini M1 computer, and other connected smart-home equipment.
This report has been prepared to preserve contemporaneous evidence, establish an accurate chronological record of the events observed by me, identify the corrective actions that I personally performed, and request an independent technical examination by qualified digital forensic investigators, if appropriate.
The report is intended for possible review by law enforcement agencies, digital forensic examiners, attorneys, insurance investigators, regulatory agencies, manufacturers, and other authorized entities responsible for evaluating electronic evidence.
The report does not attempt to determine the cause of the observations described herein. Rather, it documents the facts as I personally observed them, together with screenshots preserved at or near the time the events occurred.
Where technical questions remain unresolved, this report respectfully requests that qualified forensic professionals determine the technical explanation through examination of the relevant electronic records and systems.
2. Scope of Report
This Incident Report documents events occurring primarily between May 31, 2026, and July 15, 2026, involving the configuration and operation of my residential wireless network and connected electronic devices.
The report specifically addresses observations involving:
- Netgear RS100 Nighthawk Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router;
- wireless network names (SSIDs);
- wireless password changes;
- Ring security cameras;
- Apple iPhone 17 wireless configuration;
- Apple Mac mini M1 computer;
- Amazon Echo Show;
- wireless device connectivity;
- router administrative configuration;
- device health information;
- wireless network identification; and
- preservation of electronic evidence.
This report is limited to documenting my observations, the electronic information displayed by the affected devices, and the actions personally taken by me. Matters requiring technical conclusions are identified as issues appropriate for independent forensic analysis.
3. Background
For several months preceding the events documented in this report, I experienced recurring technical concerns involving my residential computing environment and wireless network.
Those concerns prompted me to increase my monitoring of my electronic devices and to preserve screenshots whenever unusual network behavior or configuration information was observed.
My residence utilizes multiple interconnected devices that depend upon the integrity of my wireless network, including security cameras, smart-home devices, computers, mobile devices, and other network-connected equipment.
Because these systems support both personal security and day-to-day computing activities, maintaining accurate wireless network configuration is essential to ensuring that authorized devices communicate only through the wireless networks intentionally configured by me.
Accordingly, I periodically reviewed the administrative interface of my Netgear RS100 router and the status information reported by connected devices.
4. Initial Network Security Reconfiguration
On May 31, 2026, after experiencing continuing technical concerns involving my wireless network and computing devices, I decided to establish an entirely new wireless configuration.
To accomplish this, I manually changed both wireless network names (SSIDs) together with their corresponding passwords.
Specifically, I changed the 2.4 GHz wireless network, which had previously been identified as:
The Matrix Network 1
to a newly selected wireless network name.
At the same time, I generated an entirely new password for that wireless network.
I likewise changed the 5 GHz wireless network, which had previously been identified as:
The Matrix Network 2
to a newly selected wireless network name and generated an entirely new password.
The purpose of these changes was to invalidate all previously stored wireless credentials, establish a new wireless environment known only to me, and require each authorized device to reconnect using the newly configured wireless credentials.
5. Continued Technical Concerns
Following the network reconfiguration completed on May 31, 2026, I continued to observe technical issues involving my computing environment.
Among the matters that prompted continued monitoring were observations involving:
- unexpected wireless behavior;
- repeated device configuration concerns;
- unexplained changes involving connected devices;
- continued concerns regarding my Apple Mac mini M1 computer;
- repeated software irregularities;
- wireless connectivity observations requiring additional review; and
- continued concerns regarding the overall integrity of my residential network environment.
Because these observations continued after the wireless network names and passwords had been changed, I continued reviewing the configuration of my router and the status information displayed by connected devices.
As part of this process, I began preserving screenshots documenting the appearance of the router administration interface and the device health information reported by connected equipment.
6. Discovery on July 14, 2026
On the evening of July 14, 2026, I logged into the administrative interface of my Netgear RS100 Nighthawk Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router to review its wireless configuration.
While reviewing the wireless settings, I observed information that differed from the configuration I believed I had previously established.
Specifically, I observed that the 5 GHz wireless network displayed within the router administration interface was identified as:
Avengers Network
Based upon my recollection of the wireless configuration changes completed on May 31, 2026, I did not expect this previously used SSID to appear as the currently configured 5 GHz wireless network.
Because this observation differed from my understanding of the router's intended configuration, I immediately preserved screenshots documenting the router interface exactly as it appeared.
Part 2
Router Configuration Review, Corrective Actions, Connected Device Observations, and Ring Device Health Documentation
7. Immediate Corrective Actions Following Router Review
After observing the wireless network configuration described in Part 1, I immediately decided to establish an entirely new wireless network configuration to ensure that only wireless networks intentionally configured by me remained active.
On July 14, 2026, at approximately 9:41 P.M. Central Time, I manually reconfigured both wireless frequency bands within my Netgear RS100 Nighthawk Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router.
For the 2.4 GHz wireless band, I configured the following SSID:
Quantum Router 1-2G
I also generated an entirely new wireless password.
For the 5 GHz wireless band, I configured the following SSID:
Quantum Router 1-5G
I likewise generated an entirely new wireless password.
The purpose of these changes was to invalidate previously stored wireless credentials and establish two newly authorized wireless networks known only to me.
8. Preservation of Router Administrative Configuration
Immediately after completing the wireless network changes, I preserved screenshots of the Netgear router administrative interface to document the configuration as it existed following my corrective actions.
These screenshots were preserved to establish a contemporaneous record of the router configuration and to provide a reference point for comparison with the network information subsequently reported by connected devices.
The preserved screenshots are identified as:
- Exhibit A1
- Exhibit A2
- Exhibit A3
9. Exhibit A1 – Netgear Router Administrative Portal
Exhibit A1 documents the Netgear RS100 administrative interface following my review of the router configuration.
The screenshot records information displayed by the router administration portal, including the wireless network configuration page and associated settings.
This exhibit serves as the initial documentation of the router configuration immediately preceding my corrective actions.
10. Exhibit A2 – Router Configuration After Corrective Action
Exhibit A2 documents the router administrative interface after I completed the wireless network changes.
The screenshot reflects that the router was configured with the newly authorized wireless network names established during the July 14, 2026 reconfiguration.
Among the information documented are the SSIDs that I intentionally configured for continued use within my residence.
This exhibit establishes the router configuration that I believed represented the authorized operational state of my wireless network following completion of the corrective actions.
11. Exhibit A3 – Router Configuration Chronology
Exhibit A3 provides an additional record of the router administrative interface preserved during the sequence of events documented in this report.
The screenshot records the router configuration as it appeared during my review on July 14, 2026 and forms part of the chronological sequence documenting the observations that led me to perform the wireless network reconfiguration.
Together, Exhibits A1 through A3 establish the router configuration timeline preserved by me during this incident.
12. Amazon Echo Show Review
After completing the router configuration changes, I began reviewing other wireless devices connected within my residence.
One of the first devices reviewed was my Amazon Echo Show.
The purpose of this review was to determine whether the Echo Show reflected the wireless network configuration that I believed had been established following the router reconfiguration.
13. Exhibit B1 – Amazon Echo Show Wireless Network Observation
Exhibit B1 documents the wireless network information displayed by my Amazon Echo Show.
The screenshot preserves the network information exactly as displayed by the device during my review.
I preserved this screenshot because it formed part of my overall examination of connected devices following the wireless network changes.
This exhibit is included solely to document the device's displayed network information at the time of observation.
No conclusions regarding the cause of the displayed network information are offered within this report.
14. Review of Router Configuration Using the Netgear Mobile Application
Following completion of the router reconfiguration, I also reviewed the wireless configuration through the Netgear Nighthawk mobile application.
The purpose of this review was to confirm that the wireless network names configured within the router matched the wireless network names that I intended to authorize.
This review provided an additional source of documentation independent of the router's browser-based administrative interface.
15. Exhibit C2 – Authorized Wireless Network Configuration
Exhibit C2 documents the wireless network configuration displayed within the Netgear mobile application.
Among the information displayed are:
- Smart Connect disabled.
- Separate wireless configuration for the 2.4 GHz band.
- Separate wireless configuration for the 5 GHz band.
- Authorized SSID:
- Quantum Router 1-2G
- Authorized SSID:
- Quantum Router 1-5G
At the time I preserved this screenshot, I understood these to be the only wireless network names intentionally configured within my Netgear router.
For that reason, Exhibit C2 serves as an important point of comparison with the network names subsequently reported by connected devices.
16. Continued Review of Connected Devices
After documenting the router configuration, I continued reviewing each connected Ring security device installed at my residence.
The purpose of this review was to verify that each device had successfully associated with one of the two newly authorized wireless networks configured within the router.
To accomplish this review, I accessed the Device Health page for each Ring device using the Ring mobile application.
Each Device Health page displays diagnostic information including:
- Online status.
- RSSI signal strength.
- Wireless network name (SSID).
- MAC address.
- Product identification.
- Last Health Check timestamp.
Because this information provides insight into the wireless network association reported by each device, I preserved screenshots documenting each Device Health page.
17. Initial Ring Device Health Observations
During my review of the Device Health pages, I observed that multiple Ring devices reported the wireless network name:
The Matrix Network 2
Based upon my understanding of the router configuration documented in Exhibit C2, I did not expect this SSID to appear because the Netgear application documented only the following authorized wireless networks:
- Quantum Router 1-2G
- Quantum Router 1-5G
Because of this apparent difference, I preserved screenshots documenting the Device Health information exactly as it appeared.
18. Exhibit D1 – Sarai's Front Apartment Door
Exhibit D1 documents the Device Health page for the Ring device identified as Sarai's Front Apartment Door.
The screenshot records:
- Online status.

Part 3
Apple iPhone Wireless Network Observations, Comparative Network Analysis, and Post-Reconfiguration Verification
23. Continued Investigation
Following my review of the Netgear router configuration and the Ring Device Health information, I continued examining my wireless environment to determine whether additional information could assist in understanding the network observations documented in Parts 1 and 2.
To obtain additional information, I reviewed the Wi-Fi configuration on my Apple iPhone 17 and compared those observations with the router configuration and the Device Health information reported by the Ring application.
The purpose of this review was to preserve additional evidence regarding the wireless networks visible to my iPhone, the active wireless connection used by my iPhone, and the information presented by Apple's Wi-Fi configuration interface.
24. Apple iPhone Wireless Network Review
On July 15, 2026, I opened the Wi-Fi settings on my Apple iPhone 17 and reviewed the wireless networks detected by the device.
I preserved screenshots documenting the available wireless networks together with the detailed configuration pages associated with those networks.
The screenshots preserved during this review are identified as:
- Exhibit C1
- Exhibit E1
- Exhibit E2
These exhibits provide additional information concerning the wireless environment observed by my iPhone during the period documented in this Incident Report.
25. Exhibit C1 – Available Wireless Networks
Exhibit C1 documents the Wi-Fi network list displayed on my Apple iPhone.
The screenshot records the wireless networks detected by the iPhone at the time of review.
Among the wireless networks displayed was an SSID identified as:
The Matrix Network 2
I preserved this screenshot because it documents that the SSID was visible to my iPhone during the period in which I was reviewing the wireless environment.
This exhibit documents only what was displayed by the iPhone and does not identify the source, ownership, or origin of the SSID.
Determining the source of that wireless network would require independent technical investigation.
26. Comparative Observation
The observations documented in Exhibit C1 were significant because they were reviewed together with the Netgear router configuration preserved in Exhibit C2.
According to the Netgear router configuration that I had personally established on July 14, 2026, the authorized wireless networks configured within my router were:
2.4 GHz
Quantum Router 1-2G
5 GHz
Quantum Router 1-5G
At the same time, the Ring Device Health pages preserved in Exhibits D1 through D4 reported the wireless network:
The Matrix Network 2
Because these observations involved different sources of network information, I preserved screenshots from each device to establish an accurate chronological record for possible future forensic review.
27. Exhibit E1 – Apple iPhone Wi-Fi Information Page
Exhibit E1 documents the Apple iPhone Wi-Fi information page associated with the SSID identified as:
The Matrix Network 2
The screenshot records the network information page exactly as displayed by iOS.
Among the information shown are:
- Join This Network
- Private Wi-Fi Address
- Limit IP Address Tracking
- IPv4 Address
- DNS Configuration
- Proxy Configuration
One observation documented by this exhibit is that the information page displayed the option:
Join This Network
The page did not display the standard Apple iOS option labeled:
Forget This Network
I preserved this screenshot because I considered the information relevant to documenting the condition of the wireless network information displayed by the iPhone at the time of my review.
This report does not attempt to determine the technical reason for the options displayed by iOS.
28. Exhibit E2 – Authorized Wireless Connection
Exhibit E2 documents my Apple iPhone while connected to the wireless network that I had intentionally configured within my Netgear router.
The screenshot records the active wireless connection as:
Quantum Router 1-5G
The blue checkmark displayed beside the SSID documents that this was the wireless network actively being used by my iPhone when the screenshot was preserved.
This exhibit serves as documentation that my iPhone was connected to one of the authorized wireless networks configured during the router reconfiguration.
29. Comparison of Device Observations
After reviewing the router configuration, the Ring Device Health information, and the Apple iPhone Wi-Fi configuration, I observed that the three sources of information documented different aspects of the wireless environment.
Specifically:
The Netgear router configuration documented the wireless networks intentionally configured within the router.
The Ring Device Health pages documented the network names reported by individual Ring devices.
The Apple iPhone documented both the wireless networks visible within the surrounding wireless environment and the wireless network actively being used by the iPhone.
Because each device reports different categories of network information, I preserved screenshots from each source to establish a complete chronological record for later review.
This report does not attempt to determine the technical relationship between these observations.
30. Continued Verification Following Router Reconfiguration
Following completion of my review, I continued monitoring the Ring Device Health pages to determine whether the devices subsequently reflected the newly authorized wireless network configuration.
Additional screenshots were preserved documenting the operational status of multiple Ring devices after the router reconfiguration.
These screenshots are identified as:
- Exhibit F1
- Exhibit F2
- Exhibit F3
- Exhibit F4
- Exhibit F5
- Exhibit F6
31. Exhibits F1 Through F6 – Post-Reconfiguration Verification
The screenshots preserved as Exhibits F1 through F6 document the Device Health pages for multiple Ring security devices following the router reconfiguration.
Collectively, these exhibits include the following devices:
- Ring Living Camera
- Sarai's Kitchen
- Front Door Camera
- Bedroom Window Camera
- Sarai's Front Apartment Door
- Sarai's Patio Camera
Each Device Health page records diagnostic information including:
- Online status
- RSSI signal strength
- Product identification
- MAC address
- Last Health Check
- Wireless network name
Unlike the earlier Device Health pages documented in Exhibits D1 through D4, the screenshots preserved as Exhibits F1 through F6 identify the wireless network as:
Quantum Router 1-2G
These screenshots document the network information reported by the Ring devices at the later time the exhibits were preserved.
32. Chronological Comparison
Taken together, the preserved exhibits document the following chronological sequence:
- The router configuration was reviewed.
- The wireless networks were reconfigured on July 14, 2026.
- Multiple Ring devices initially reported the network name "The Matrix Network 2."
- The Apple iPhone documented both visible wireless networks and its active connection to "Quantum Router 1-5G."
- Subsequent Ring Device Health pages later documented communication through "Quantum Router 1-2G."
I preserved each screenshot contemporaneously to establish an accurate chronological record of these observations.
The screenshots themselves do not determine the technical explanation for the sequence of events.
Accordingly, I respectfully request that qualified digital forensic investigators review all available router records, cloud synchronization records, wireless association logs, device logs, and other available electronic evidence to determine the technical explanation for the observations documented in this report.
33. Transition to Legal and Forensic Review
The preceding sections document my observations together with the contemporaneous electronic evidence preserved during my review of the wireless environment.
The final section of this Incident Report will identify the federal statutes that may be relevant depending upon the findings of a qualified forensic investigation, outline the digital evidence preserved, request preservation of electronic records, describe the potential security implications of the documented observations, and provide my formal declaration and request for review by the appropriate investigative authorities.

34. Federal Statutes Potentially Relevant to a Forensic Investigation
This Incident Report documents my personal observations concerning my residential wireless network, router configuration, connected electronic devices, and the screenshots that I preserved contemporaneously.
The purpose of identifying the following federal statutes is not to conclude that any violation has occurred. Rather, these statutes identify legal authorities that may become relevant if a qualified digital forensic investigation establishes facts supporting their application. Determining whether any statute applies depends upon the evidence ultimately developed through an independent investigation.
A. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030)
If a forensic investigation were to establish that a protected computer, router, wireless network, or connected electronic device was intentionally accessed without authorization, or that authorized access was exceeded in violation of the statute, investigators may evaluate whether the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 1030 are implicated.
This statute addresses various forms of unauthorized access to protected computers, including obtaining information, causing qualifying damage, or impairing the integrity or availability of computer systems.
B. Stored Communications Act (18 U.S.C. § 2701)
If forensic evidence were to establish unauthorized access to electronic communications in storage, investigators may consider whether the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 2701 are applicable.
This statute concerns unauthorized access to certain stored electronic communications and related records.
C. Federal Wiretap Act (18 U.S.C. § 2511)
If an investigation were to establish the intentional interception, use, or disclosure of protected electronic communications as defined by federal law, investigators may consider the applicability of 18 U.S.C. § 2511.
Nothing contained in this report should be interpreted as asserting that such interception occurred. That determination would require competent technical evidence.
D. Identity Theft and Related Fraud Statutes
Should a forensic investigation determine that electronic systems were intentionally manipulated in a manner involving the misuse of another person's identifying information or digital credentials, investigators may evaluate whether additional federal statutes are implicated, including, where supported by the evidence:
- 18 U.S.C. § 1028 (Fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents and authentication features)
- 18 U.S.C. § 1028A (Aggravated identity theft)
The applicability of these statutes depends entirely upon the facts established during an investigation.
E. Obstruction of Justice and Evidence Preservation
If any person knowingly destroys, alters, conceals, or falsifies evidence relevant to an authorized investigation or judicial proceeding, investigators may evaluate the applicability of federal evidence-preservation and obstruction statutes, including, where appropriate:
- 18 U.S.C. § 1519 (Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations and bankruptcy)
Whether this statute applies depends upon facts established independently by investigators.
